The SNA defines basic units as legal entities entitledwith complete capacity of taking any economicdecision regarding production, consumption,investment, acquisition of financial assets orliabilities, etc. These institutional units aretypically enterprises, central or local governmentinstitutions or households. Regarding productionanalysis, the SNA chooses smaller units which arebetter correlated to particular products or groupsof products, or more homogenous. They are calledestablishments. An establishment is a part ofan enterprise that is situated in a single locationand which engages predominantly in one kind ofeconomic activity.Equivalent units need to be defined for ecosystems.Using specific statistical units for ecosystemsinstead of using economic or administrative unitsis a major step...
