More specifically, we must further examinehealth beliefs, and food beliefs andpractices that have symbolic or traditionalimportance to determine how knowledge,beliefs and attitudes translate into eatingbehaviour in older adults, especially atadvanced ages. More research is needed toclarify the relative contribution of income,ethnic background and other personal predictorsof healthy eating – self-control,emotions, resistance to change, time constraints,lack of knowledge – and environmentalfactors governing food availabilityand cost.
