Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is one of the most potentinflammatory mediators. It is biosynthesized by either thede novobiosynthesis of glyceryl ether lipids or by remodelingofmembranephospholipids. PAFis synthesizedandcatabo-lizedbyvarious renal cells andtissues andexerts awide rangeof biological activities on renal tissue suggesting a potentialrole during renal injury.
