Receptor protein-tyrosine phosphatasea(RPTPa) is a transmembrane pro-tein with tandem cytoplasmic phosphatase domains. Most of the catalyticactivity is contained by the membrane-proximal catalytic domain (D1). Wefound a spontaneous Arg554 to His mutation in the pTyr recognition loopof the membrane-distal phosphatase domain (D2) of a human patient. Thismutation was not linked to the disease.
