Chemosensory proteins (CSPs) are ubiquitous soluble smallproteins isolated from sensory organs of a wide range ofinsect species, whichare believedtobeinvolvedinchemicalcommunication. We report the cloning of a honeybee CSPgene called ASP3c, as well as the structural and functionalcharacterization of the encoded protein. The protein washeterologously secretedby the yeastPichia pastorisusing thenative signal peptide.
