We have isolated a nonfucosylated and three variouslyfucosylated neutral oligosaccharides from human milk thatare based on theiso-lacto-N-octaose core. Their structureswere characterized by the combined use of electrospraymass spectrometry (ES-MS) and NMR spectroscopy. Thebranching pattern and blood group-related Lewis deter-minants, together with partial sequences and linkages ofthese oligosaccharides, were initially elucidated by high-sensitivity ES-MS/MS analysis, and then their full structureassignment was completed by methylation analysis and1H-NMR. Three new structures were identified....
