Differential screening by PCR-select subtraction was carried out forcDNAs from leaves of red and green perilla, two chemovarietal forms ofPerilla frutescensregarding anthocyanin accumulation. One hundred andtwenty cDNA fragments were selected as the clones preferentially expressedin anthocyanin-accumulating red perilla over the nonaccumulating greenperilla.
