The peroxidase–oxidase reaction is known to involve react-ive oxygen species as intermediates. These intermediatesinactivatemany types of biomolecules, including peroxidaseitself. Previously,wehave shown that oscillatorydynamics inthe peroxidase–oxidase reaction seem to protect the enzymefrominactivation. It was suggested that this is due to a loweraverage concentration of reactive oxygen species in theoscillatory state compared to the steady state.
