Recent studies on type II thioesterases (TEIIs) involved inmicrobial secondary metabolism described a role for theseenzymes in the removal of short acyl-S- phosphopantetheineintermediates from misprimed holo-(acyl carrier proteins)and holo-(peptidyl carrier proteins) of polyketide synthasesand nonribosomal peptide synthetases.
