A new approach of predicting structural classes of proteindomain sequences is presented in this paper. Besides theamino acid composition, the composition of severaldipeptides, tripeptides, tetrapeptides, pentapeptides andhexapeptides are taken into account based on the step-wise discriminant analysis. The result of jackknife testshows that this new approach can lead to higher pre-dictive sensitivityand specificityfor reduced sequencesimilaritydatasets.
