The crystal structures of thermophilic xylanases fromChaetomium thermophilumandNonomuraea flexuosaweredetermined at 1.75 and 2.1 A˚ resolution, respectively. Bothenzymes have the overall fold typical to family 11 xylanaseswith two highly twistedb-sheets forminga large cleft. Thecomparison of 12 crystal structures of family 11 xylanasesfrom both mesophilic and thermophilic organisms showedthat the structures of different xylanases arevery similar.
