Theoxidation-promotingreactivityof copper(II) complexofaminoglycosidic antibiotic amikacin [Cu(II)-Ami] in thepresence of hydrogen peroxide, was studied at pH 7.4, using2¢-deoxyguanosine (dG), pBR322 plasmid DNA and yeasttRNAPheas target molecules. Themixtures of complexwithH2O2were found to be efficient oxidants, converting dG toits 8-oxo derivative, generating strand breaks in plasmidDNA and multiple cleavages in tRNAPhe.
