Anovel toxin,AmmTX3 (3823.5 Da), was isolated fromthevenomof the scorpionAndroctonusmauretanicus. It showed94% sequence homology with Aa1 fromAndroctonus aus-tralis and 91% with BmTX3 fromButhus martensiwhich,respectively,blockA-typeK+current incerebellumgranularcells and striatum cultured neurons. Binding and displace-ment experiments using rat brain synaptosomes showed thatAmmTX3 and Aa1 competed effectively with125I-labelledsBmTX3 binding.
