After the lesson Ss will be able to know more about the simple past form,,Retell the story about the holiday by using the words talk , rent, move saw , ........ To drill Ss speaking and listening ,Reading skills. II. Teaching aids. Tape + casstte player, text book , work sheet. III. Teaching procedure. 1. Class organization. 2. Oral test. - Do exercise 3-4(page 54 ) in the work book . 3. New lesson: A. Wam up. ( Do the listening p: 89) _ Introduce the listening , and ask the Ss to work in pairs to choose the sentence which contains the similar information to the tape. - Play the tape tree times , and ask the Ss to share the answer . - Ask some pairs to read the correct answer . b. The Robinson return to Hanoi by bus . d. This was the first time Liz saw the paddies. e. They stopped at the restaurant for the short time . h. Mrs Robinson bought some food for Liz. j. They arrive home in the evening _ Correct if necessary. B. Pre -reading - Introduce the reading, and ask some questions : -Do you write diary ? - What do you always write in your diary ? C.While- reading -Ask the Ss to read the reading in silence and answer the question that contain the Content of the reading . - When did Liz and her parents arrrive in Hanoi ? - What does Mr Robinson do ? -How old is Liz ? - What does Ba collect ? - Ask the Ss to do the exercise in the book (P: 90) - Work in pairs to do the exercise., and ask the Ss to read aloud the answer. a. Liz lived next door to Ba. ( not long away ) b. Liz learnt Vietnamese in Vietnam ( not in the USA.) c. Ba collects stamps . ( not Liz ) d. Liz’s aunt lives in Newyork ( not in Vietnam) e. The Robinson moved . Now Ba is sad.( not happy ) f. Ba will see Liz nezt week ,( not never ) _ Check the answer if necessary. - Ask the Ss to read the reading aloud . - Explain the difficult words: + Keep in touch: giữ liên lạc + Improve : cải thiện + talk - talked + Arrive- Arrived + Rent- Rented + Move- moved . D. Post- reading. - Ask the Ss to write their own diary ( in 5 minutes ). - Ask the Ss to read the diary aloud. - Check the writing . - Play the tape and the Ss to repeat the tape. 4. Consolidation - Retell the main content of the reading.. 5. Home work. -Do exercise 4 page 54 in the work book - Prepare B1 Neighbors.
