An investigation was carried out during the year 2017 to study the post-harvest life of gladiolus spikes by using different packaging materials (blotting paper, brown paper, butter paper, cellophane paper and news paper) in various environmental condition (16ºC and 22 ± 2ºC). All the post-harvest studies were conducted at Post-harvest Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, U.P. Experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design with three replications.

All the post-harvest studies were conducted at Post-harvest Laboratory,Gladiolus, Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University,Packaging Varanasi, U.P. Experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design with threematerials, replications. Harvested gladiolus spikes were packed with different packaging materialsTemperature, Post-harvest life and kept in ambient temperature condition and cool chamber condition. The results revealed that spikes stored in cool chamber condition were found significantly higher thanArticle Info the ambient condition. Slow opening of florets, diameter of florets and percentage of opened florets were found maximum in cool chamber condition (16ºC). While, maximumAccepted: diameter of first floret and length of third and fifth floret were observed with the spike06 July 2018Available Online: packed in brown paper.
