The proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC) is a keyevent in the development of atherosclerosis. In addition togrowth factors or cytokines, we have shown previously thatn-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) act in oppositionto n-6 PUFAs by modulating various steps of the inflam-matory process.
