These foreigners need to use English to communicate with theircolleagues,officeworkers,localresidents.ThatiswhyEnglishhasbeenconsideredtobethemostpopularandimportantlanguageforadultsatworkandyoungpeopleatschooloruniversity.Theprovincehasover50highschools,andNgoQuyenHighSchoolisthemostfamousoneintheprovince.Eachyear,theschoolhasoveronethousandstudentswho are good at many subjects including mathematics, chemistry, physics andbiology,buttheirEnglishcommunicativecompetencemustbecarefullytakenintoconsiderationtosomeextent.Ininformaldiscussionswithstudentsandteachersintheschool,Ihaverecognizedthat problems facing the reality of teaching and learning speaking are that realcommunicationisnotalwaysachieved.Mostformisfocusedanddisplayquestionsareoftenexploited.Theteachersmakequestionsavailableinthetextbooksinordertocompletetheirlessonplan.Therefore,thestudentsmeetdifficultyachievinggoodresultsinIELTS,TOEFLandTOEICtests.2.ThescopeoftheresearchTheresearchconsistsofanintroduction,areviewofworthwhileliteraturerelatedtotheindependentvariable:“meaningfulactivities”andtheirbenefits,adescriptionofstudents’ learning styles, learning habits, preferences and their views of thesespeakingactivities.Thefinalpartsoftheresearchpaperaresectionsaboutresearch9methodology, anticipated outcomes and possible problems which may come upduringtheresearchtogetherwithashortconclusion.Theapplicationofmeaningfulactivitieswillbecarriedoutamongaclassofthirtyfive10gradersatNgoQuyenHighSchool.Thestudentswillbetestedonorallycommunicativeabilitybeforeandafterthetechniquescalled“meaningfulactivities”areappliedintheclassroominordertoseehowmuchimprovementthestudentsgain.Bothteachers’attitudesandstudents’feelingstowardsmeaningfulactivitiesasteachingandlearningtoolswillbereflectedthroughinterviewsandquestionnairesrespectively.Thiswillprove,tosomeextent,theusefulnessandthefeasibilityoftheseactivitiesinEnglishclassrooms.3.RationaleStudentsacquireaforeignlanguagethroughthefourfundamentalskillsincludinglistening,speaking,readingandwriting.Profici ...
