Language focus - To develop speaking skills work in groups, in pairs or individually - To provide students with some new more words and phrases. 2. Skills: To help Ss develop their speaking skills 3. Attitudes: To encourage Ss work in pairs and groupsII. PREPARATION 1. Teacher: - Teaching aids: - Lesson plan, text book - Teaching method: Communicative language teaching 2. Students: - Read Unit 12 – speaking at homeIII. PROCEDURE 1. Class organization (1 minute) 2. Check – up (5 minutes) - Some students read and write down new words and phrases - Some students translate the reading passage into Vietnamese 3. New lesson (35 minutes) STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1. Task 1 Task 1 - Work in pairs, check understanding and do task 1 - Instructs Ss to answer the question + What kind of water sports do you like most? Why? + I like swimming/water polo/ scuba diving/ synchronized - Asks some pairs of Ss to present swimming/ wind surfing/ rowing + It’s interesting, enjoyable It has a good fun It helps me to keep fit/ relax 2. Task 2 Task 2 - Work in groups, study the table and do task 2 + Rowing is played in a lake, a river or a sea. It’s played with a boat and oars. People play it individually or in a team. - Calls some groups of Ss to present + Wind surfing is played in a lake or in a sea. It’s played their conversation with a board and a sail. People play it individually. 3. Task 3 - Work in pairs, list out advantages of water sports then do - Instructs Ss to answer the question task 3 + I prefer swimming to water polo because it’s easy to play + I agree with you. Swimming is also interesting + It helps us to keep fit and relax. - Asks some pairs of Ss to present - attractive/ fascinating/ wonderful/ fantastic/ terrific/ adventurous/ breathtaking - explore the world - develop solidarity and understanding between players in a team 4.
